A look back at the installation of the world’s largest retractable veranda!

20 February 2019

In 28 years of existence, Verandair teams have installed a multitude of verandas, retractable verandas and other pergolas. In all, more than 5,000 structures have graced the homes of our customers around the world. While we’re no strangers to private installations, we also work for professionals, offering verandas, retractable verandas and pergolas for the hotel and catering trade. Worksites that sometimes require extra manpower and logistics. But a few months ago, Verandair decided to take on an even bigger challenge: to build nothing less than the world’s largest retractable veranda. A large-scale project masterfully carried out by our teams. Here’s a look back!

The world’s largest retractable veranda from Verandair

On November 28, 2018, work began on what 15 days later became the world’s largest retractable veranda.

That day, Verandair’s teams arrived on site with all the necessary equipment. And God knows there were! The self-supporting sliding structure alone measured 20 metres wide by 21 metres long. To this structure had to be added a rotunda measuring 12 metres in diameter and 5 metres in height, both manufactured at the Verandair factory in Mariembourg. This Verandair veranda features 230 square meters of special double glazing.

As you’d expect, the project required sophisticated logistics and rigorous expertise. A challenge that could not have been met without motivated and competent teams.
